A 6th dan, Tajiri-Shihan has been practicing Aikido for over 30 years. He began practicing Aikido at the age of 17 at the Seibukan Budo Dojo in Kyoto Japan. Tajiri-Shihan moved to Chicago in 1973 and became an uchideshi (live-in student) of Fumio Toyoda-Shihan (then the chief instructor of the Chicago Ki Society). He continued to study under Toyoda-Shihan till his death in 2001 and remains a loyal student to this day.
Tajiri-Shihan is an enthusiastic promoter of Aikido. He enjoys sharing his art with students all over the world. He can be found teaching seminars in Europe and the United States. Shihan is also a certified self-defense instructor and teaches law-enforcement personnel, including members of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, police department and correction department. He is also accomplished in iaido, judo and practices Zen meditation.
